7 Tips For Photos You'll Actually Love!
If you are newly engaged (congratulations!!!), planning photos in NYC can feel overwhelming so I put together a few simple tips to help you relax, have fun, and fall in love with your photos!!!
1️⃣ Pick a location that feels like you
NYC has endless options — from classic romance in Central Park, to cobblestone charm in DUMBO, to chic city vibes in the West Village or Top of the Rock.
If you’re playful, go for open spaces and movement. If you love glam, rooftops at sunset always win. The key is choosing a spot that reflects your energy as a couple.
2️⃣ Time your session for that perfect light
The city glows best at sunrise (quiet streets + dreamy light) or golden hour (the soft sunset tones everyone loves). Midday can be harsh — unless we’re shooting in shaded parks or cozy alleys. I’ll help you find the right time for your location.
3️⃣ Dress to complement the city
Think coordinated, not matching. Flowy neutrals look gorgeous in nature (like Central Park or Brooklyn Bridge Park), while bold, modern looks pop against city architecture.
And most importantly: wear something you can move in — you’ll be walking, twirling, maybe dancing a little. 😉
4️⃣ Don’t stress about posing
I’ll guide you the whole way. My approach is natural and movement-based — less “stand here and smile,” more “walk, laugh, whisper something sweet.”
The best photos always come when you’re just being yourselves.
5️⃣ Add a personal touch
Bring something that tells your story — coffee cups from your first date, your pup, or a champagne toast. These little details make your session feel personal and uniquely yours.
6️⃣ Be ready for NYC energy
Taxis honk. People walk by. That’s part of the magic. Instead of waiting for the perfect empty shot, we’ll lean into the energy — it’s what makes NYC photos feel alive and authentic.
7️⃣ Trust the process — and have fun!
