Events are some of the most fun things to photograph as a photographer. I personally love watching how much fun everyone is having and capturing all the special moments that happen during the event itself. That being said, there is a lot of behind the scenes work that goes into photographing an event. The first step involves discuss what kind of event and what specific things your client is looking for. For example, there is a big difference between a small birthday party and a 100 person wedding. So the first questions I always like to ask is what kind of event do you need covered, how many hours will the event be, and how many people will be there? This gives me a base to be able to give a quote to my client as well as determine if I would need to hire additional help for the event such as a second shooter. The next step is I always ask if there are any specific moments during the event that the client would want captured. This allows me to make a general timeline for the event, and create a list of specific shots that I will need to get during the shoot. However, my favorite part of any event is showing up the day of and seeing the whole thing come together. There is something so special about being a part of someone's special day. Whether that is a birthday, wedding, or baby shower its always so much fun and makes me feel so honored to be included. What are some of your favorite events you have done?
