A Day In The Park

The other day I printed out some fresh new business cards and was trying to brainstorm some ways to hand them out. At first, I debated going around to some local stores and seeing if they would put them on display for me. Which is a tactic I have heard from other friends of mine who own their own business that has worked well for them. After thinking it over, I decided to go to the nearest park to me and personally hand out cards there. It was a beautiful day and I knew there would be plenty of people walking by. That being said, the idea of going up to complete strangers and trying to promote my business made me extremely nervous. So nervous in fact I almost backed out at the last minute. However, I told myself just start with ten cards. Hand out ten cards, and if it is really that bad you can go home after that. I soon realized once I had began this new experiment of mine that it was not nearly as hard as I expected it to be. After an hour I had handed out about 75 business cards and made some amazing connections with the people I talked to. If even only one of the people who I talked to the other day contacts me for a shoot I will consider it a win. My overall take away from the day was to do more things that scare me, and to take more risk because you never know what may pay off.
