Photography On A Budget

As a photographer one of the biggest things I go back and fourth between is how much to charge for a shoot. I am still fairly new to the New York photography market and I know that there is a fine line between undercharging, which may get me more clients but not clients who would value my work, and overcharging which would most certainly limit my clientele. Additionally, I wanted both my clients and myself to leave feeling happy after a shoot. So, what I decided to do is offer two different types of shoots. My normal full length shoot that is 45 minute long and comes with a certain amount of edited photos, and a mini shoot which is only 25-30 minutes and comes with slightly less edited photos. My mini shoot is at a discounted rate and has proven to be very popular with clients of mine who do not feel like they need a full shoot, or who are trying to stick to a certain photography budget. Another thing I always do when a client first reaches out to me is ask them if they had a specific budget in mind, so I can point them toward which packages of mine would work best for them. My clients have responded positively to this, and my hope is that this shows them that I am willing to work with them to make the shoot possible. What are some of your ways you have tried to work with you client's budget?
